Shot Blasting Machines
Shot blasting machines are production-oriented surface preparation systems used when part volume, repeatability and automated handling are more important than manual flexibility.
When to choose shot blasting instead of a cabinet
A blasting cabinet is a compact and flexible solution for mixed parts, repair jobs and precision finishing. A shot blasting machine is usually the better investment when the same part family must be processed repeatedly at higher volume. Instead of a manual blast gun, many shot blasting machines use turbine wheels that throw steel shot or grit at high speed.
Common machine formats include tumble belt machines for small castings, hook machines for hanging components, roller conveyor machines for plates and profiles, and table machines for heavy parts. These systems require more floor space and infrastructure, but they can reduce labor per part dramatically when the application is consistent.
If your work includes both production batches and special parts, the right setup may include both systems: a shot blasting machine for routine throughput and a blasting cabinet system for rework, inspection samples, tooling and controlled finishing. | Need | Blasting cabinet | Shot blasting machine |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed small parts | Strong fit | Usually too much setup |
| High-volume castings | Possible but labor-heavy | Strong fit |
| Precision target areas | Strong manual control | Requires fixtures or masking |
| Large steel profiles | Limited by chamber size | Roller conveyor system is common |
| Lower initial investment | Usually lower | Usually higher |
